Hayward Aqua Rite, Aqua Trol, Swim Pure and Aqua Nature repair

Your Hayward Aqua Rite, Aqua Trol, Swim Pure or Aqua Nature shows a strange salt reading, a light that won’t go off, or nothing at all? We repair the main board of these salt chlorinators, and also the Jacuzzi, Carvin and SaniClear models, which are copies of the older Aqua Rite board.

Problems we repair

  • Wrong salt reading, or Check Salt and Inspect Cell lights that won’t go off (after checking the cell, see below)
  • The Power light or other lights are off, or nothing lights up at all
  • PCB shown on the display
  • HOT or COLD shown when the water temperature is normal
  • The No Flow light stays on with the pump running (on an in-ground pool, try a new flow switch first)
  • The Diagnostic button doesn’t work
  • The board doesn’t support the cell you bought (for example a T-9 or T-15 on a board that only takes a T-5): we can swap the board for a version that supports your cell

Good to know: if only the Inspect Cell light is flashing, it’s just a reminder every 500 hours to look at the cell. Hold the Diagnostic button a few seconds to reset it. No repair needed.

Is it the board or the salt cell?

Most low-salt messages come from a worn cell, not from the board. A Hayward cell is good for about 10,000 hours of operation. Before you send anything:

  • Have the water tested at a pool store. A regular system needs 2,700 to 3,500 ppm. Low-salt models need 1,200 to 3,500 ppm.
  • Make sure the board is set for your cell type (T-3, T-5, T-9 or T-15). Above-ground Aqua Trol boards take a T-5 only. Low-salt versions take a T-9 or T-15 only.
  • Do the quick salt test: the instant salt value (the one starting with a minus sign) should be close to the store result.
